Lando Norris set the fastest time in Free Practice 2 (FP2) for the 2025 Hungarian Grand Prix. SPORTRIK’s in-depth analysis highlights McLaren’s dominance at Hungaroring, with Norris and Oscar Piastri securing the top two positions.
Norris posted a lap time of 1:15.624, beating Piastri by 0.291 seconds. Thus, McLaren maintained their strong form from FP1. Meanwhile, Charles Leclerc from Ferrari took third, trailing by 0.399 seconds. Consequently, the top three mirrored their FP1 positions. Additionally, Aston Martin surprised with Lance Stroll and Fernando Alonso in fourth and fifth. As a result, Aston Martin showed competitive potential.
Alonso returned to the AMR25 cockpit in FP2 after missing FP1 due to a back injury. He was replaced by Felipe Drugovich earlier. However, Alonso performed strongly in fifth. Meanwhile, Max Verstappen from Red Bull finished 14th. He faces an FIA investigation for throwing a towel from his cockpit at Turn 3. Therefore, this incident adds challenges for Verstappen. Consequently, a potential penalty could affect his qualifying.
Lewis Hamilton from Ferrari placed sixth, followed by George Russell and Kimi Antonelli from Mercedes. Furthermore, Isack Hadjar from Racing Bulls remained impressive in eighth. At the back, Franco Colapinto from Alpine finished last. Thus, Hungaroring challenged midfield teams.
