KTM has confirmed its participation in MotoGP for the 2025 season, despite financial difficulties. SPORTRIK’s analysis indicates this statement counters withdrawal rumors. Consequently, KTM’s commitment is a key focus amid ongoing speculation.

Financial Crisis and Withdrawal Rumors

KTM, under Pierer Mobility, faces a €2.9 billion debt, fueling rumors of a MotoGP exit. AKV reports suggest a planned withdrawal by 2026 to save €46 million annually. However, KTM insists MotoGP remains integral to its restructuring plan. As a result, its factory and Tech3 teams will race in 2025 with riders like Pedro Acosta and Brad Binder.

KTM’s Official Statement

KTM’s motorsport director, Pit Beirer, reaffirmed the team’s commitment. “We will stay in all series,” he stated. He emphasized motorsport as core to KTM’s brand. For instance, KTM has secured seven grand prix wins since 2017. Thus, KTM dismissed Red Bull rescue rumors and is seeking external funding, including talks with parties like Lewis Hamilton’s management.

Challenges and Prospects

KTM has paused RC16 development for 2025 to cut costs, though bikes are ready to race. Nevertheless, its post-2026 future is uncertain as its Dorna contract ends. Additionally, the 850cc engine regulation change in 2027 poses challenges. SPORTRIK assesses that KTM needs investors to sustain its MotoGP program.
